900,000 litre tanks at Docklands Studios, 4 weeks.
Quiz with Balls was filmed at Docklands Studios, Melbourne, Australia, in 2024. We utilised the 900000 litre permanent pit in Studio 6 for the project. A custom filtration system was designed and installed over two days, allowing the elaborate stage and audience seating to be installed over the top of the plumbing.
Show Water managed the design, installation, filling and draining, and decommissioning of the system. In this case, we didn’t have to heat the water as the production was completed in summer, when the natural temperature of the full pit is a bearable 22 degrees. Contestants on the show would only ever spend a few moments in the water, so there was no need to plan for long periods of submersion.
One of the main challenges of using the pit is the absence of any permanent plumbing in the pit. This means we need to custom-design plumbing to remove and return water from the pit to the exterior of the studio that does not interfere with the set design.
